This work outlines a theology of the senses, arguing that they are the way in which God explores creation through the creature. As such, they are our pre-eminent "means of grace". To make that statement raises questions about disability, the abuse of our senses, and a world increasingly based on consumerism. Gorringe takes up and explores these themes, concluding with an account of the eucharist as a major part in what he calls "the education of our desire". The book is based on the John Albert Hall Lectures for 2000 given at the University of Victoria, British Columbia.
