This reference volume aims to be a kind of comprehensive status quaestionis for the Catholic Epistles. Here Darian Lockett has collected some of the highest quality scholarship concentred upon the Letters of James, Peter, ohn, and Jude, creating an introduction and orientation to the wide ranging avenues of scholarly investigation into these New Testament texts all in a single-volume. Divided into four distinct sections, the volume begins with an analysis of the Catholic Epistles as a collection, before moving to discuss historical-critical and theological studies, methodological approaches, and, finally, reception history. Taking care to situate foundational essays in the history of scholarship that may be hard to find or contextualize, Lockett offers a brief introduction to each section and draws each section to a close by providing a list of annotated readings which prompt further study and engagement with some of the last literature to be settled upon in the New Testament canon.

Associate Professor Darian Lockett (Biola University, USA)

Darian R. Lockett is Associate Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies at Biola University, USA.

This volume of essays on the Catholic Epistles offers more than a collection of previously published essays, selected from the scholarship of recent decades. Four of the essays included here have been translated from German into English for the first time. Along with Darian Lockett's judicious and wellinformed introductions, and annotated lists of further reading, this volume will provide a valuable resource for teaching and research on this still relatively neglected corner of the New Testament canon. * DAVID G. HORRELL, UNIVERSITY OF EXETER, UK * Far too often the Catholic Epistles are treated as the 'best-kept secret' in New Testament studies. This unique collection of seminal essays on the reception history, and on the canonical, historical, and methodological approaches to these rich and complex letters will cast light on the valuable contribution scholars have made in giving us a fuller understanding of early Christianity. And like a masterful docent, Lockett has skillfully illuminated their work. * KELLY D. LIEBENGOOD, LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY, USA *
