How each reader will use this book will differ enormously. The purpose is to allow the Spirit to speak to each one of us in a unique and wonderful way. You may like to discard completely with any and every suggestion I make for each passage of scripture. There may simply be one phrase or word that inspires you to meditate and discover anew what God is saying to you. Whatever happens it is my prayer that you will see with clarity the love of God manifested in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Graham Sawyer

Graham Sawyer is a British, Australian and New Zealand citizen. Born in England, he studied Theology at the University of Durham and went on to teach languages at York Minster Choir School and the Dragon School, Oxford. He then had a brief political career which saw him first as a researcher and speech writer to a Member of the European Parliament and later standing for the Westminster Parliament in the 1992 General Election. The following year Graham began a career in broadcasting and joined the BBC World Service as a news reader and presenter. In 1995 he immigrated to New Zealand where he continued his work with a national radio programme and other journalistic work as well as holding a position on the Board of the National Press Club of New Zealand. Ordained deacon in Wellington in 1998, Graham moved the following year across the Tasman Sea to do workplace chaplaincy in Sydney, Australia. He was soon invited to move to Wales to work in a parish in the diocese of Archbishop Rowan Williams who ordained him priest. Graham returned to Australia in 2004 as a parish priest in Perth where he was also Chaplain for the Arts. He then transferred to Melbourne to be an associate priest at the parish church of Melbourne, St Peter's Eastern Hill, as well as doing locum work at the University of Melbourne and in various parishes. After working as a locum priest in the parish of Beechworth in the Diocese of Wangaratta and also serving as national Chaplain of the Guild of All Souls (Australia and New Zealand), he returned to live and work in England. He is currently Vicar of St James Briercliffe, Burnley in the Diocese of Blackburn. Apart from being an Anglican priest, Graham is also a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
