It’s often said that people come to Iona looking for peace and quiet and go away looking for peace and justice – that Iona is not only a welcoming place but ‘a sending place’.

As part of their Rule, members of the Iona Community are committed to ‘working for justice and peace, wholeness and reconciliation in our localities, society and the whole creation’.

This book of personal stories explores how members of the Community live out this commitment in their lives and tells of extraordinary actions from ordinary folk as they campaign, offer hospitality and stand alongside those on the margins of society.

Susan Dale has a doctorate in education, specialising in narrative and life story research, and has worked as a psychotherapist, spiritual accompanier, researcher and writer for the last 20 years.
