Daniel is the last of the major prophets and features many well-known events including Daniel in the Lion's Den and the fiery furnace.

The minor prophets (minor due to length not significance) also feature much important material and known stories: Hosea and his unfaithful wife Gomer and the names of their children 'not my people' for example. Jonah and the whale, the ;day of the LORD in Malachi and much more.

Abridged for the general listener in favour of the wealth of characters in the Old Testament, its poetry and its narrative. Such things as genealogies, instructions regarding certain rituals and some of the law had to give way to the stories and the poetry. Some of the stories are trimmed of some repeated details.
