This journal is an outgrowth of the 2013 publication of How Did They Do That? -- Career Highlights, Triumphs, and Challenges. The original book (still available by the way) includes twelve stories based on interviews with an actor, America's first elected African-American Governor, an entrepreneurial couple, corporate executive, a survivor of the Iran hostage crisis, a centenarian-teacher who lived to be 108 and in the 1930's taught students not only traditional education subjects, but also life skills. Words of wisdom from these interviewees and the others will encourage, motivate and inspire your work, studies or personal thoughts.

Deborah Tompkins Johnson

Deborah has been writing since elementary school and still possesses some of those early pieces. Her innate interest in writing- as well as encouragement she received to write at every juncture in her life-today fuels her quest to continue to put pen to paper or tap the keys on her tablet, pad or phone. Deborah attended public schools in Petersburg, Virginia, graduated with honors from James Madison University and earned an MBA from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. Deborah worked several years in broadcast news, reporting, anchoring and producing. From broadcasting, Deborah joined Dominion Energy in Virginia where she has worked in or led teams in media relations, energy efficiency, customer engineering, customer service key accounts and now in government affairs. Most importantly as Deborah worshipped and studied the Bible, she fell in love with the LORD who is now, and for many years, been the foundation of her life. At her church, Deborah met Reuben Johnson, now her husband of almost twenty-years.
