How do we approach the big questions of life? For each of us, these may look slightly different, but they're all important. ‘Who am I?’; ‘Is there a purpose to my life?’; ‘What happens to me when I die?’ or even ‘Is there a God?’ - they're all important. These are the 'religious questions', not only because the answers we come up with will fundamentally influence the way we live, but also because we can never be absolutely certain of the answers. (...and a deliberate attempt to avoid the questions nevertheless constitutes an answer to them!) One way to approach these questions is through story. Within the cover of this book are a number of short works of fiction, each distinctly unique, each unravelling the lives of very different people. But, whilst these are stories in their own right, they have been ordered in a manner that roughly tracks the development of Western thought. They are intended to be interesting, able to do more than merely occupy half an hour of your time. Some readers will detect a Philosophical thrust, and maybe there is one. Simply put, the stories deal with the BIG questions. So, pick your favourite chair, grab a drink, and let’s try to get to the heart of what a few really influential people thought. And when we’re done, perhaps we’ll have a more clear understanding of who we are.
