Some of Christianity’s most sacred sources are themselves marred by sin. Focusing in particular on problematic passages in the Bible, on Christian valorisation of slavery, and on Christianity’s chequered gender legacy, Wiley lifts up the question of unacknowledged interests in our use of sacred sources and poses the perennial challenge of honesty and authenticity about our received traditions and how we employ them in our lives and work.
