Miles to Go Before I Sleep
Miles to Go Before I Sleep - Book Launch
WEDNESDAY 21 APRIL 2021 - 6.30 to 7.30PM
Join us to hear Claire Gilbert in conversation with Richard Holloway about her new book Miles to Go Before I Sleep: Letters on hope, death and learning to live. This event is hosted by Church House Bookshop in association with Hodder Faith, an imprint of John Murray Press.
Public philosopher and author Claire Gilbert started writing letters on life and mortality after being diagnosed with an incurable cancer. The letters chart Claire's journey through diagnosis and treatment, and end with her in her immuno-compromised isolation in March 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic hit. Unflinchingly honest and wide-ranging, Claire writes about the restorative role of nature, politics, poetry, humour — and a restless exploration of the spiritual dimension of death and dying.
Richard Holloway is a writer and broadcaster, and a former Bishop of Edinburgh. He has written extensively on mortality and end of life issues.
