Reflect with the Psalms
Monks and nuns all make the three vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, right?
Actually, no. Benedictines make vows of stability, fidelity to the monastic life (a difficult one to translate from the Latin) and yes, obedience.
And this has some bearing upon people who might find themselves confined to home in the present sorry circumstances: Benedictines live their whole lives under oath in one monastery and are buried there too.
How the heck do they do it? And this is the point. They spend a huge amount of time each day praying the Psalms. And when they're not praying them, they're letting the tongue roll round them as it were, while they chew over them (among other texts) in Lectio Divina (sacred reading).
We recommend heartily using the Psalms in a period of enforced isolation. All of human life is there: abandonment, fear, hope, joy, sorrow, lamentation, you name it.
