J. C. Ryle, Andrew Atherstone

J. C. Ryle (1816–1900) was a prominent writer, preacher, and Anglican clergyman in nineteenth-century England. He is the author of the classic Expository Thoughts on the Gospels and retired as the bishop of Liverpool.

Andrew Atherstone (PhD, University of Oxford) is professor of Modern Anglicanism at the University of Oxford, and Latimer Research Fellow at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He has published widely on the history of evangelicalism, Anglicanism, fundamentalism, and charismatic renewal, from the eighteenth century to the present.
