The Revised English Hymnal is a revision and consolidation of the whole English Hymnal tradition, from 1906 to today.
It includes general hymns; hymns for feasts, seasons and saints' days; office hymns for the liturgical year; an enlarged eucharistic section; responsorial psalms; and a new English folk mass setting.
In addition a new Appendix will provide cross references across the whole collection of hymns that are suitable for use on occasions or in ways outside the structured sections of the book.
Perhaps the greatest virtue of The Revised English Hymnal is that it remains firmly rooted in the church year, the calendar, and the liturgy. It expands and modernises a style of Church of England worship based on order, observance, and sacramental and credal fidelity.
