The figure of Christ is at the heart of Christian faith and self-understanding, whether conservative or liberal. In this volume, widely acclaimed theologian Celia Deane-Drummond sets out to develop an understanding of Christ that is far more conscious of the evolutionary history of humanity and current evolutionary theories about the natural world. It argues that the concepts of wisdom and wonder have special roles in both theology and science and can point to an integrated, inclusive spirituality and a fuller vision of life and the universe.

Celia Deane-Drummond

Celia Deane-Drummond (born 1956) is a professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame. She teaches systematic theology in relation to biological science - especially evolution, ecology, genetics; bioethics - especially sustainability, ecotheology, and public theology.

Celia E. Deane-Drummond

Celia Deane-Drummond earned doctorates in both biology and theology and holds the Chair in Theology and the Biological Sciences at the University of Chester. Among her many important works are Creation through Wisdom: Theology and the New Biology (2000), The Ethics of Nature (2004), and Genetics and Christian Ethics (2006).

'This book should inspire, intrigue and invite fresh energies into a new phase of Christian outreach that is both contextual and true to the faith of the church through the ages.' Fresh Expressions Website
